Henry Stover (or Stauffer) is listed as the son of Christian Stauffer (abt 1680-1735). Ref: Stauffer Stover History 1899 pg 179. His birth is listed as "about 1739," which may be incorrect, since it would have been years AFTER the death of his father.

It is generally accepted (but not proven) that this Christian Stauffer (Stover) had brothers Hans and Jacob (pg 224) and that this brother, Jacob Stover, is the Jacob who married Sarah Boone on 15 Mar 1715 in Pennsylvania, aunt of Daniel Boone. Jacob and Sarah had nine children in Pennsylvania. After Sarah's death, it is believed Jacob left his children with the Boone in-laws and traveled to explore the "Valley of Virginia."

It is also speculated that Bishop William Stover (abt 1725-1800) was closely related to Jacob, the Pioneer of the Valley of Virginia and other Stovers.

Known as Christian Stauffer of Salford. Believed to have emigrated from Germany (year not known). His birth is estimated about 1680. Earliest record is a Pennsylvania land purchase in 1728. Ref: Stauffer Stover History 1899 pg 145.
