    Daniel Stover was son-in-law of Dunker pioneer and alleged minister Nicholas Leatherman at Beaver Run Church on Patterson Creek in Hampshire Co. Ref: Allegheny Passage, Bittinger 1990 pg 67.

    Catharine married Daniel Jr Stover 1829. Daniel (son of Daniel (of Muckenhauserhof) Stover and Elizabeth) was born Abt 1774, Virginia; died Bef 1847, Hampshire County, Virginia. [Group Sheet]

    This congregation had it's beginning with the Leathermans from Hagerstown MD in 1784 and the Arnolds from near Frederick MD in about 1785.
    Daniel Leatherman was b. 1710 in Germany, moved to America in 1730, then to MD in 1757. He was the founder of the Brethren Church in MD. His son, Nicholas and his wife and small child, Abraham, moved to Patterson Creek, now between Headsville and Burlington, in 1784. Abraham is buried in the Biser Cemetery.

    Allegheny Passage, Bittinger pg 157-159 offers other theories from other researchers regarding the parentage of Nicholas Leatheman. In 1763 at least THREE Nicholas Leathermans were known.
