Notes |
- Use caution when reviewing historical references for Mathias Stauffer, who had a wife named Anna and a son named Christian. There are a couple of them and confusion has occurred.
Mathias Stauffer of Lower Salford Twp, Montgomery County married Anna Clemens and had son Christian Stover of Lower Salford Twp.
Mathias Stauffer of Earl Twp, Lancaster County married Anna Oberholtzer and had son Christian Stauffer of Earl Twp and Caernarvon Twp, Lancaster County.
There are also references to Mathias Stauffer of Earl or Conestoga Twp, who had a wife possibly named Anna ZIMMERMAN. This was speculated from Mathias' will (6 Feb 1758), which named a brother-in-law, Christian Zimmerman. I believe this speculation is incorrect. I believe this Mathias married Anna Oberholtzer.
